Call for "ORIGINS PhD Awards 2021"

For the third time, the Excellence Cluster ORIGINS awards two outstanding dissertations in the field of astro-, nuclear and particle physics as well as biophysics. Interdisciplinary thesis topics addressing one of the important milestones of the cluster and connecting various research disciplines will be preferred.

Candidates are nominated by their PhD supervisor by a nomination letter. The supervisors have to be a member of one of the Cluster partner institutions (TUM, LMU, MPA, MPE, MPP, MPIB, IPP, ESO or LRZ). The PhD theses have to be submitted, reviewed and graded either at the TU München or at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität between 16 July 2020 and 15 July 2021.

The "ORIGINS PhD Awards 2021" are endowed with 2,000 Euros each. The Application deadline is 15 July 2021. The awardees are invited to present their award winning theses during the Science Week 2021 of the Excellence Cluster ORIGINS (22 – 25 November 2021)

Application including nomination letter, a pdf of the PhD thesis, and first and second referee letters have to be sent to:
