Candidates are nominated by their PhD supervisor by a nomination letter. The supervisors must be members of one of the Cluster partner institutions (TUM, LMU, MPA, MPE, MPP, MPIB, IPP, ESO or LRZ). The PhD theses must be submitted, reviewed and graded either at the Technical University of Munich or at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität between 16 July 2023 and 15 July 2024.
The "ORIGINS PhD Awards 2024" are endowed with 2,000 Euros each. The application deadline is 15 September 2024. The awardees are invited to present their award-winning theses during the Science Week of the Excellence Cluster ORIGINS (18.11. – 21.11.2024)
Applications including nomination letter, a pdf of the PhD thesis, first and second referee letter and official documentation of the final grade should be sent to:
